Eric Corey Freed, LEED AP, Hon. FIGP, is Principal of organicARCHITECT, an architecture and consulting firm in California, with nearly 20 years of experience in green building.

Eric co-developed the Sustainable Design programs at the Academy of Art University and University of California Berkeley Extension. He is on the boards of Architects, Designers & Planners for Social Responsibility (ADPSR), Green Home Guide and West Coast Green, as well as the advisory boards of nearly a dozen other organizations.

He was the founding Chair of Architecture for The San Francisco Design Museum and one of the founders of ecoTECTURE: The Online Journal of Ecological Design. He is a regular contributor for GreenerBuildings.com, Luxe, Natural Home, Metropolitan Home and dozens of other publications. Eric lectures around the country at 40+ conferences a year, and his work has been featured in Dwell, Metropolis, Town & Country, Natural Home and Newsweek. He has been seen on television on Fox News, HGTV, The Sundance Channel and PBS.

When Eric was just 25 years old, noted architect and critic Philip Johnson described him as "one of the real brains of his generation". Today, Eric continues the tradition of “Organic Architecture”, first developed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Eric is the author of four books, including "Green Building & Remodeling for Dummies" (John Wiley & Sons), a best seller with 100,000 copies in print. His latest books, "Sustainable School Architecture" and “Green$ense for your Home” were released in 2010.

Eric is considered a leader in the field; named by San Francisco Magazine "Best Green Architect" in 2005 and "Best Visionary" in 2007; and "Green Visionary" by 7x7 Magazine in 2008.

Glenn co-founded Clearview Software, the developer of Claris SmartForm Designer and SmartForm Assistant. Clearview was sold to Apple Computer where Glenn later served as a marketing specialist. He holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in Organizational Behavior, from Brown University, and was a Coro Fellow. Glenn is a co-founder of the Sustainable Business Council, www.sustainablebc.org (and chair), the Kaia Parker Dance Fund, and a co-founder and former board member of Hope Street Group. He is a member of the board of directors of the Brown University Entrepreneur Forum.

Glenn was named the Clean Tech CEO of the Year in 2008 by Clean Tech Week and the 2009 Business Environmentalist of the Year by the Los Angeles City Council/Faith2Green.

Director of Green Building Programs at the NAHB Research Center, Michelle leads the national green building certification program based on the ANSI-approved National Green Building Standard™ (ICC 700-2008). Possessing a broad knowledge of the housing industry, Michelle has developed a unique perspective that addresses the environmental, land use, and financing issues that confront builders and developers. As a Planner for the New York City Department of City Planning, she facilitated a multi-year, citywide effort to site and build transitional housing for homeless families and individuals. As a Policy Analyst at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) she developed comprehensive and innovative policy solutions to achieve environmental goals while protecting housing affordability.

Interested in how to capture the intrinsic value of high performance homes to boost homeownership; Michelle transitioned to Fannie Mae to develop their Housing and Environment Initiative which promoted housing affordability through energy and location efficient homes. At Fannie Mae, Michelle developed the Smart Commute Mortgage and revamped the Location Efficient and Energy Efficient Mortgages. In addition, she developed a patent-winning methodology to calculate the emissions reductions from energy efficient homes so the reductions could be sold as energy credits on emerging carbon markets.

Michelle has a Masters in Urban Planning and Environmental Studies from the University of Virginia and a BS in Environmental Studies from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

Kathy Abusow is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, Inc. (SFI®), a fully independent, non-profit organization. The SFI® program is a comprehensive and rigorous sustainable forestry certification standard that covers more than 160 million certified acres (over 65 million ha.) in the U.S. and Canada and includes over 800 organizations that use the SFI forest certification, chain of custody and fiber sourcing standard or are SFI on-product label users.

In her leadership role at SFI, Kathy works with government organizations, small or large companies as well as conservation groups to promote forest certification along the entire supply chain.

Kathy has served on several CSA committees, as well as the American National Standards Institute’s (ANSI) ASQ National Accreditation Board Committee of Experts for Sustainable Forestry accreditation, and is past chair of the Society of American Foresters’ Sustainability and Certification Working Group.

Kathy’s understanding of forest certification standards, chain of custody, conformity assessment and accreditation on both a technical and strategic level has contributed to the market acceptance and inclusive procurement of a variety of standards in use in North America. Kathy is active member of the CSA Sustainable Forest Management Technical Committee and a past member of FSC Canada’s Great Lakes St.-Lawrence standards development committee.
